The film focuses not on Joan’s military exploits but on her trial and execution.  Partially inspired by Jeanne d’Arc’s gnomic description of angels appearing before her, “Voices Appeared” reconciles the silent film medium with Jeanne’s narrative experience of hearing voices. The “Voices Appeared” project uses sound to convey the narrative’s time period and the inner workings of Joan's mind while in captivity.
