Kari Weil  (University Professor of Letters, University Professor College of the Environment, University Professor Environmental Studies, University Professor of Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and Co-Coordinator of Animal Studies--Wesleyan University) will speak via zoom during on Monday, November 29 at 3:30 PM, on "Fingers, Flesh and The Power of Touch in Madame Bovary."

Kari Weil has published widely on feminist theory, questions of gender in 19th and 20th century French and European literature, and, most recently, on theories and representations of non-human animals and human-animal relations. She is the author of Thinking Animals: Why Animal Studies Now (Columbia UP, 2012) and Androgyny and the Denial of Difference (University Press of Virginia, 1994), and most recently,  Precarious Partners: Horses and their Humans in Nineteenth-Century France, (University of Chicago Press, 2020).
