Elizabeth Harper

Elizabeth Harper is a Jefferson Scholars Foundation pre- and post-doctoral fellow (2023-2025), specializing in late Medieval Poetry and vulnerability studies. Her dissertation, “Making Lyric Matter in Late Medieval France,” explores concepts of vulnerability and care ethics through poetic forms that came into being in late medieval France, amid the turmoil of the Hundred Years’ War, countless civil wars, and the Black Death. In addition to her doctoral work, Elizabeth serves as editorial assistant for Digital Philology: A Journal of Medieval Cultures; is an active board member of the International Machaut Society; has recently finished a 3-year tenure as graduate representative to the Medieval Studies Program at UVa.
