Research Interests: 19th century literature; cognitive psychology – cognitive biases; prose poetry; Baudelaire’s prose poetry; gender and sexuality studies                                                                                                                                     

Biography: Katelyn holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in French Language and Literature from North Carolina State University. In her current dissertation research, she considers cognitive approaches to the ambiguities of the prose poem. She researches fiction as a tool to prompt voluntary, rational interpretive ability in the reader, rather than near-instantaneous thinking that often relies on mental shortcuts. At NC State, she was a research assistant for the Department of Sociology and Anthropology (2020-2023.) She assisted with the analysis and transcription of government documents/interviews on agriculture in Burgundy, France. She lived in Lyon, France where she worked as an English lecturer at l’Université Lumière Lyon 2 (2023-2024).
