Graduates of the Department of French pursue careers both in and outside of academia. Recent graduates of the doctoral program currently hold tenure-track positions at institutions that include: Appalachian State University, Sophia University in Tokyo, University of Connecticut, Longwood University, Connecticut College, Rollins College, CUNY-Baruch College, University of Maryland-Baltimore Campus, Washington and Jefferson College, University of Southern Indiana, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and University of Wisconsin-Madison, among others. Recent Ph.D. recipients also hold or have held general faculty positions at: Harvard University, University of Virginia, Smith College, UC San Diego, Washington and Lee, SUNY-Binghamton, and Wake Forest University. Graduates of the M.A. and Ph.D. programs who have pursued post-academic careers are now working in fields such as international education, academic administration, health, law, business, pharmaceuticals, transportation, and tech.
