Pierce is second-year doctoral student at UVa. His primary research interests include 20th- and 21st-century French and Francophone fiction, urban studies, and affect theory, with secondary interests in documentary cinema, postcolonial studies, postcritique, and the digital humanities. In particular, Pierce hopes to explore the ways in which urban literary texts conceive of affective states in relation to both aesthetic and political aspirations.

Prior to UVa, Pierce served as the Assistant Director of the Writing Center at Muhlenberg College.
