Biography

Aida Kamel is a first-year PhD candidate in French. Her scholarly interests lie at the intersection of postcolonial studies, French and Francophone literary history, translation theory, gender studies, archival studies and comparative intellectual traditions, with a focus on how texts circulate across languages in the late 20th- and 21st century Mediterranean. As an Egyptian scholar trained in French, Arabic, and English, Aida aims to research how modern intellectual genealogies are constructed and to uncover the alternative archives and voices that challenge Eurocentric histories of modernity.
