Biography

Deborah A. Ogooluwa is a second-year Ph.D. student who examines cinematic form as a mode of thinking and a site of knowledge production. Specializing in contemporary West African cinema, film theory, and postcolonial aesthetics, she uses close formal analysis of narrative, cinematographic, and spatial strategies to trace how power operates on screen, and how film reworks memory, institutional authority and gendered violence into new ways of understanding the present.
