Biography

Jamie Rush is a first-year candidate for the PhD in French. His current research uses an interdisciplinary approach to explore the literary, philosophical, and sociopolitical movements of late 17th and early 18th century France, in particular the influence of King Louis XIV and his government on the Enlightenment period. He has also written extensively on 20th century French literature and theater, with a specific focus on the absurdist philosophies of Albert Camus, Eugène Ionesco, and Samuel Beckett.

17th and 18th century French and Francophone literature; Enlightenment philosophy; the rise of the novel in 18th century France; French and Francophone theater; 20th century French literature and philosophy.
